"Sleepy Jean 3rd" (for DCS 2.5+)

      P-47D-30(Early) livery by Bo_Nidle.

"Sleepy Jean 3rd" was a P-47D-28 flown by Lt Bill Wayland of the 395th Fighter Squadron
of the 368th Fighter Group, 9th Air Force.

It is depicted as it would have appeared in 1945.

Tasked primarily with ground attack missions, Wayland still claimed 4 confirmed aerial victories
in this aircraft in December of 1944. (2 x Bf109's & 2 x Fw190's)

Installation:
Place this folder in the Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/CoreMods/WWII Units/P-47D-30/Liveries/P-47D-30 folder.

In the sim use this skin on the P-47D-30 (Early).

This removes the fin fillet at the base of the tail which was the most obvious visual difference between the D-28 and the D-30.

There were other external changes, such as the addition of "dive flaps" and blunt nosed aerilons, but most of the changes between the two were internal.

The keen eyed amongst you may notice that the engine block is painted black as most of the D-28's were delivered
with black engines, with the grey painted engines coming on later variants.

My thanks go out to:

Warlord64 for his template without whose selfless efforts none of this would be possible, as we are still waiting for the official template at the time of writing.

Good show old Boy!
